11.4  SUPPORT ON INDIVIDUAL CASES

If there are concerns that a child (male or female) is in danger of a forced marriage agencies should contact the Forced Marriage Unit, where experienced case workers are able to offer support and guidance on www.fco.gov.uk or ring 020 7008 0230.

However where agencies in Cumbria have concerns that a young person under the age of 18 may be at risk of a forced marriage they should make a referral to children’s social care accordance with the procedures outlined in Chapter 6 of these procedures or if there is an immediate risk contact the police direct.
